Joint Dysfunction

Joints are structures that allow movement between bones. Joints need a good range of motion in order to function properly, and subsequently allow us to move properly. The restriction of these structures can result in incomplete or painful ranges of motion, which will require restoration. This is where osteopathic treatment can help to:

  • Reduce inflammation
  • Biomechanically balance joints, fascia, ligaments, muscles and tendons
  • Restore and improve the lost mobility
  • Eliminate pain
  • Eliminate accumulated tensions in the adjacent muscles
  • Strengthen tissues to prevent re-injury

Some of the dysfunctions we treat include:

  • Ankle and wrist sprains
  • Tennis elbow and golfer’s elbow
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Rotator cuff tendonitis of the shoulder
  • Arthritis
  • Frozen shoulder syndrome
  • Ligamentous and meniscal injuries of the knees
  • Post-surgical treatment, such as hip replacement or cruciate ligament repairs
